PostSubject: Geography Craft   Mon Mar 21, 2011 2:08 pm

now im pretty sure not all of you guys are in need of something like this but meh, why not?

SO! today im going to be showing you fine folk how to make a bit of a sphere!

Step 1:
starting off you have to lay a foundation, im going with a 2x2 just because its small and it u'll be easy to do, i normally go with a 3x3 but yah, baby steps people!

Step 1.5:
ok im betting that you guys have already figured this out but i feel it might need saying, in order to get bulges, over hangs, lips, or steps is really easy to do, just slap down something thats quick to knock out, in this case wool, in the spot just below or to the side of where your going to lay your block down... and then just lay the block down on top or on the sides of them. simple no?

Step 2:
alright, after laying down your foundation you should move out by one block on all sides, DO NOT fill in the corners, otherwise your just going to get a some kind of double sided zigurat... thing, just keep the line going all the way around

Step 3:
ok, now you could keep repeating step 2 until the cows come home, but since im lazy im going to drop in step 3 here, right around here is where you slap down your turning point, and in this case I'm pretty sure i screwed up, normally at the tuning point each side of the sphere should match its foundation, in this case being a 2x2, but hey, i might be awesome as all hell but even i make mistakes... i'll give you a moment so you can peice your world view back together... you good? sweet, anyway as the name implies after this point the sphere should start turning back in and closing up rather than bowing out.

Step 4:
now this part is about a full 3rd of every dome but since its basically repeating the pastern you made for the bottom half of your sphere, but above the turning point, capping it off and finishing it up.

FINISHED!

And if you have played your cards...er... block, right you will have a complete sphere, all round and... spherical, you know despite being made out of a bunch of cubes, kind of like this one except a little less squatted

No need for this topic, theres an app for that.

Edit1:Or you could just eyeball it like me Smile

Edit2:Or you could just do what you did in the thread... I wonder...
